Letter of Support from Current and Past Members of Swarthmore’s Women's Tennis Team
We, the undersigned past and current members of the Swarthmore College Women’s Tennis Team, call on the College to immediately and permanently revoke the leases given to the fraternities on its campus. As athletes, we recognize our unique positionality within the college and we believe it is our responsibility to support actions that combat racism, homophobia, transphobia, misogyny, and sexual violence. We believe that the termination of the fraternity leases is a necessary step toward making Swarthmore safer, more inclusive, and more welcoming for all students.
We join the Swarthmore Coalition to End Fraternity Violence and demand the College act in the most concrete way to make its students safer. We support and thank the resilient survivors and allies who continue to push for change, and find their courage and efforts to improve our community inspiring. We hope that this letter contributes in some way to making our campus safer, more inclusive, and committed to the values Swarthmore is recognized for.
