ENLACE Statement in Support of SJP

The ENLACE Executive Board would like to state its support for the members of Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) in their call upon President Valerie Smith to affirm the dignity of Palestinian life, recognize the illegal occupation of Palestinian land, and deshelve all current Sabra products, as well as end their future sale at Swarthmore College.

As SJP has noted, Sabra is owned by the Strauss Group, which has been deeply financially involved in supporting the Golani Brigade of the Israeli armed forces. The multiple atrocities that the Golani Brigade has committed are injustices that are not only morally incorrect, but also illegal under international law. The Palestinian struggle against Israeli occupation is one that has been recognized across many international borders, throughout several college campuses, and one that the ENLACE Executive Board also recognizes and supports. As a result, the ENLACE Executive Board strongly believes that Swarthmore, as an institution that cites its devotion to civic and social responsibility, should end the sale of all Sabra products on campus.

We encourage everyone to join us by supporting SJP in their efforts to obtain administrative support in ending the distribution of Sabra products at Swarthmore.

In solidarity with SJP,

The ENLACE Executive Board
