CELEBRATING BLACKNESS DURING FEBRUARY: BLACK PASSION

VOICES PRESENTS...

WELCOME TO BLACK FRIDAY

During Black History Month, Voices celebrates not only the historical achievements the community holds to great importance, but also the stories of the present-day black community. We want to celebrate history-in-the-making. In our second week of Voices' series Celebrating Blackness During February, black Swatties team together to discuss their dreams, ambitions, and inspirations. In a world in which black culture is often profited from and consumed without attention to the black individual itself, this series hopes to highlight the real life aspects of Swarthmore students' ambition.

Hold fast to dreams
For if dreams die
Life is a broken-winged bird
That cannot fly.

Hold fast to dreams
For when dreams go
Life is a barren field
Frozen with snow.

-Langston Hughes

Black dreams, black passion, and black history in-the-making.
