COLORS Solidarity for BDS

As members of the COLORS board, we stand in solidarity with the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) Campaign. As an organization dedicated to supporting queer people of color, we are outraged at Swarthmore College’s use of our tuition dollars to aid Israeli apartheid and occupation.

Through this occupation, Israel has managed to hide under the guise of progressivism and “gay rights” while engaging in the oppression of Palestinians. This is known as pinkwashing. This, coupled with their numerous human rights and international law violations stemming from apartheid, leads us to demand that the institutions we take part in be responsible and ethical by divesting from this regime.

We stand firmly with BDS and SJP.

We encourage everyone to attend SJP’s rally this Wednesday at 1:15 in Parrish Parlors, where they will deliver their divestment petition to college President Valerie Smith. More can be found here.

More information on the Swarthmore BDS movement can be found here and here.

In Solidarity,

COLORS Board
