Due to recent events, SQU Board (Swarthmore Queer Union) is joining WOCKA, SISA, and ENLACE in solidarity with SASS and their boycott of the Daily Gazette. Op eds such as “Kaepernick’s” Well-Intentioned But Ineffectual Protest” and “The Admissions Office Doesn’t Care About Your Values” are harmful to Black students, low income students and other marginalized groups. SQU does not support publications that vilify and marginalize Black students, and uphold white supremacy.

We hope that others will join us in supporting Swarthmore Voices as a publication that is well informed, valid, and reliable. We look forward to hearing the voices of those students who have not been able to find their space in the DG and other publications.

Swarthmore Queer Union is committed to creating a safer community space for LGBTQIA+ students of all races, ethnicities, gender, religion, ability, citizenship status, and socioeconomic status while making sure we uplift each other’s voices. The solidarity among our groups is crucial to us as many of our members are in both SASS and SQU. We hope that other organizations will join us in boycotting the DG.

In solidarity,

SQU Board
